We recently upgraded our server environment from Autodesk 2024 to Autodesk 2026. During the migration, we discovered that our custom-developed applications are not compatible with Autodesk 2026 because they were built on .NET Framework 4.8, which is no longer supported by the 2026 client platform. As a result, we decided to keep the client applications on Autodesk 2024 while upgrading the server to Autodesk 2026.
We have now received a Microsoft migration tool to help convert our custom applications from .NET Framework 4.8 to .NET 8. However, we have another concern. Autodesk 2026 currently supports .NET 8, but .NET 8 reaches end-of-life in November 2026. I have seen announcements that Autodesk has released a beta update for AutoCAD 2026 to support .NET 10, but similar updates have not yet been announced for Inventor, Vault, Plant 3D, or Navisworks.
Question:
1. Our challenge is understanding Autodesk's roadmap to relase hotfix?
2. Do they plan to release hotfixes or updates for these products to support .NET 10, and if so, when? If we move our customizations to .NET 8 now, we may face compliance and security concerns once .NET 8 reaches the end of support. At the same time, we are reluctant to recommend a rollout of Autodesk 2027 until at least one or two major updates or hotfixes have been released.
This leaves us in a difficult position, as we do not have clear visibility into Autodesk's timeline for .NET 10 support across the remaining product portfolio.
