Job Processor Specs?

Does anyone have suggestions on what a Job Processor machine specs should be?

I believe that it should have a low end video card and the minimum requirements to run Inventor.

@tschaeferZNBXX,

The Job Processor does not use video graphics so a low end card is fine. If you do have large assemblies, you should match your Inventor machines memory and processor specs.

Would a VM be ok to run the job processor on?

As long as it meets or exceeds the system specs you would use on a physical machine. The main concern about virtual environments is performance. Make sure you allocate enough resources so that it performance just as good or better then a physical machine.

Ok so based off the client PC specs it would need the following.

  • Intel i3 or equivalent AMD processor, 1.6 GHz
  • 10 GB disk space
  • 4 GB RAM
  • Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault installed

We are not concerned with performance as the job processor will not be taxed very heavily.

Thank you for the information Irvin, it is very  helpful.

Hi Irvin, does this still apply to Inventor Server (i.e. Vault 2020)? We've done a comparison of jobs between 2 job processor machines. One Job Processor machine is on an Inventor workstation with a certified graphic card, while the other is on a server environment (I realize it's not ideal).

In both scenarios, I ran a normal Sync Props + Update View job on 12 IDW's, 2 IAM's and 15 IPT's. The JP on the server took 7 min. 38 sec., while the JP on the workstation took 4 min 23 sec.

I broke down the times per job (using the JobProcessor log), and the Sync Props and Update Rev Table jobs took roughly the same time on both Job Processors, but the DWF Create job took 2x longer on the JP on the server.

On the JP on the workstation, average time to create DWF was 6 sec/file. On the JP on the server, average time was 13 sec/file.

I was wondering was it because the JP on the server had a run-of-the-mill graphic card?

@clastrilla Yes, this is still correct. The Job Processor runs Inventor or Inventor Server without graphics so the graphics card in the computer is not used.
