Use the links provided by @KooCheeKit for the how to... for a bit of fun reading, >>here is part 1 of<< a 4 part article I wrote for Design & Motion when I did the integration for Vault 2015 a few years back.  The other parts are linked at the end of each segment.

Good Luck!

You mention it is a hosted system?  Do you mean hosted in the cloud or in house?  As I understand SharePoint and Vault will only integrate with a local installation (ie In house).  The office 365 hosted version is not supported.

Ok really dumb question here but what can this do?

What does the integration into Sharepoint provide?

The Vault SharePoint integration provides file, item and change order list integration with SharePoint. This allows SharePoint users to view Vault files, items and change orders in a read-only format. You can also customize the list to include particular Vault and user-defined properties.

There's a good overview video of the Integration here: Vault SharePoint Integration

For specifics on the configuration and capabilities see the Administrator overview here: Vault Help

This screencast shows how to setup file lists in SharePoint:

I hope this helps but let us know if you have any other questions.

The one thing we ran into with this, which stopped me in my tracks, was the fact that you cannot see Item watermarks.  We use Item life cycles and revisions, so all of our production documents are watermarked on the Item with the life cycle state.  This is the official document.  In SharePoint, these watermarks are not view-able.  I could not take the chance of someone using a print from SharePoint for production purposes, without knowing the release state.  Same is true with This Client.

Just a heads up, in case you use Items.

Chris-

That is good to know.  I wonder if publishing only the PDF version of the idw to SharePoint could work around this?  We have been toying around with integrating SharePoint here so the info you provided for Items is a good reason to hold back till the reason or workaround is published.

Thanks,

But what advantage is this compared to Vault Thin Client?  Both are read only but I seem to have more control of Thin Client than Sharepoint.

I would fear that users could possibly use unreleased documents for construction.  I am trying to develop a good way to track changes or log changes without using a license but it seems to be difficult.

Maybe I am missing something here but we are trying to find the best way to get issues from BIM360 tracked in Vault.  Best I can come up with is to create an ECO in Vault that is manually created since there is no direct link between Vault and BIM360 to the best of my knowledge.  If there is can someone point me in the right direction?
