Dwfx visualization file to vault and local folder at check-in, at the same time

I would like Vault to create a visualization (dwfx) file in the vault working directory and place a dwfx into a local folder when checking in a CAD drawing.

I have set the visualization attachment options, under the Tool menu, to:

-Enable Visualization File Attachement Options.

-Flat list with the local folder file path.

When I check a file out of Vault via the CAD application, make an update, and check it back into Vault, the visualization file is created in the vault working directory.  But a dwfx of the same file is not copied to the local folder.

When view the CAD file from the Preview Tab in Vault and click the update button, a dwfx file is created and placed in the local folder.

How can I get the visualization file to be created in both the vault working directory and the local folder, when a user checks a file into vault, at the same time?

I am currently running Vault Pro 2017 and Windows 7 Prof.

Hi Leonard,

The Vault setting 'Enable Visualization File Attachment' option should be set to a network directory.

  • Vault help: Configure Visualization Attachment Options
    • 6. If either Flat List or Duplicate Vault Folder Structure is selected, click the browse button and select a shared network folder to which all users have access for storing the visualization files and then click OK.

This way the file will be saved to this location on check-in and update view. This will also help if you use a job processor to create your drawings.

Thanks,

Jason

Thanks Jason for the reply.  I did set the path to a shared network folder as you suggest.

I do use the job processor for queue updates.

The visualization file does get created  in the working directory and the shared network folder when I create it by using the Queue Update or click the Update (Locally) button in the Preview Tab.

But the visualization file does-not get generated in the network folder when a check-in is performed only the file in the working directory gets created.
