At one point, Inventor View was the default viewer. However, at some point that changed and now Vault is looking for Inventor Read Only Mode. Not everyone has Inventor installed on their system. Where in vault do I set the global viewer default? Can I set Inventor View or Design Review as the default?

Vault won't allow me to change the default to Inventor View because my computer doesn't have Inventor View installed on it. Is there a way to add Inventor View without having to uninstall Vault and then reinstall Vault?

I uninstall Vault Client so I could reinstall Vault Client hoping it would also install Inventor View. However, it won't install Inventor View because Inventor is already installed. Now what do I do about the Vault clients that don't have Inventor? Do I install Inventor on those computers so they can have "Inventor Read-Only Mode?" Is there a way I can get Inventor Viewer on my computer too? Or, is there a way I can setup Vault so it'll use "Inventor Read-Only Mode" if that's available or Inventor Viewer if that's available?

Hello,
When Inventor is installed first and then Vault client is installed, Inventor View is not installed along with Vault Client. This is desired behavior. Recommendation now is to use Inventor Read only mode for viewing purposes.
If you don't have Inventor installed prior, Vault client installation will install Inventor View by default.
You can download and install Inventor View from:

Could you have Vault Viewer as Default viewer for Inventor files? Every other file in my Vault open in Vault View, but the major amount of files in my Vault open in Inventor View. I like the Vault View more, because it seems to load faster and it is a lot more modern looking.
I do not have the option to choose Vault View as Default for Inventor Files, see picture below:
(Maybe what I am calling Vault View actually is called Autodesk Viewer, but still I can't choose that as Default setting for viewing Inventor files)

Autodesk Viewer will be used only if specific Inventor file has linked visualization file (DWF) as the viewer uses that visualization. If it doesn't have DWF then View in Window will always go for Inventor Read-Only.
To make Visualization file for your dataset - find file, go to View tab, select Udpate Locally and run Update
Side note - View tab will also show you the same thing if visualization is there (and it will use Autodesk Viewer if that is opiton set here:)

Update - I just spotted one more thing. If you still have "Inventor View" option you probably use Vault 2023 or older (Inventor View is no longer present for Inventor 2024 and newer - https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-751C5950-5955-414D-B594-7272E532948A). Iv you would like to see Autodesk Viewer in Vault 2023 and older you must set:
And preview files in View tab:
