How can you Copy Design multiple files, where the file names have different prefixes, without it turning into the same prefix?
The problem that we have is with how we save our files.
Ben-Cornelius has posted a similar question, but only with a single prefix.
Example:
The prefix is set to the product type, but the Random numeric number just goes from 000001 and upwards, because it needs to be different with each variants a product type has.
When Copy Design in Vault, the prefix is set to the Numbering Schemes, so all the files under the branch will turn into default Numbering Schemes.
The same happens when suffix is used. Choose that in the Numbering Schemes, it will go to the top of the suffix list, even when the files has a different suffix.
It can be done manually under Numbering, so I know that Copy Design can do it, just not Automatically.
Hello,
Copy Design automatically donot will using multiple prefixes - its not easy for Vault to determine which prefix to use for what files.
But slight workaround (may not be easy/possible in each case) I can think of - if you split your copy action as per prefixes/suffixes you can change the Default prefix/suffix in between. What I mean is :
1. set default prefix/suffix
2. set required files to copy.
3. set another default prefix/suffix
4. set next set of files to copy.

I'm not seeing any way of automating this process, I think the steps given by @gandhey are very similar to the ones I used in my last job. You can use the Copy Branch, and still change the prefix in smaller groups of files... but it becomes a matter of training and practice to ensure that the right group of files gets the right prefix.
With some programming, it may be possible to create a Custom Job that could do something like this. But, since I don't know programming, that is only a guess.
