Copy Design - Branch To - Folder structure

If I do a Copy Design, I mostly use "Copy to Branch". Everything goes well but when finnished, I always need to drag some files around as the copy design has copied the complete folder structure into the new folder.

What I would want is have the same structure as the original on the same level as it was, not 2 or 3 subfolder deeper.

As an example I copied 3206 to 3207

I think we would need to see some images of the structure before you copied, and what you get as a result.... that might give us a clue as to where it is not going as planned.  Are you able to share some examples?  Even if it's just a "dummy" assembly?

Thanks, Johan.  I can confirm this behavior using Copy Branch To.  I don't know if this is intended or not.  @ihayesjr ?

Here is what I have always done, and never had any problems (unless I miss something, which is easy to do in large assmeblies with complex folder structure).

  • Select the top level assembly to be copied, in the Main Panel.  Choose Copy Branch
  • In the Numbering Panel add the column Destination Path
  • Adjust your Prefix, Destination Filename etc. as needed for all files to be copied
  • In Destination Path, use Find & Replace to replace the current folder names and path, with the desired path and names.  New folders will be created when the Copy is executed.
  • Double, triple and maybe even quadruple check everything. 😬.... Better than missing a character or a space or something like that.
  • Close your eyes, say a prayer and then Execute the copy.
  • Take a deep breath and hope you didn't make any mistakes. 😂

Good luck!

There are multiple ways to do what you need but in all ways, you should perform the moves before you execute the Copy Design.

Instead of making changes in the Numbering Panel, open the Folder Panel and drag and drop the files into the appropriate folder.

The Destination Path column is available in the Main Grid and you can perform the Find and Replace in the main grid to edit the destination path.
