AutoCad 2017 and Vault 2020

We have recently upgraded our AutoCAD software to 2017. We also have Vault 2014 and would like to upgrade vault to 2020. Does anyone know whether AutoCAD 2017 will work with Vault 2020? Perhaps there is a link on the vendor's site where it clearly states supported software releases. If anyone can send me the link it would be very much appreciated.

thank you

Hello Johannes,

thank you for your quick reply. I'm sorry but I don't think I can see the answer from the link you provided.

Basically, the company I work for recently upgraded their AutoCAD to 2017. They want to upgrade Vault Pro to 2020 release and would like to know if AutoCAD 2017 will work with Vault 2020 and if it's not which latest version of Vault Pro will work with AutoCAD 2017. Hope you have that information.

thank you

Hello,

Please see here:

  • Vault 2020 Server supports connections from Vault 2018, Vault 2019 and Vault 2020 Thick clients and  Add-Ins

Vault 2017 installs the Autocad Addin into Autocad 2017. Since Vault 2017 is not supported, also the Authoring Tools are not supported.

This is the error message you can expect:2019-06-18_16-00-56.jpg

Hello,

AutoCAD 2017 can work with Vault 2017 client and can maximum connect to Vault 2019 Vault server.

Vault server supports n-2 release versions for connecting from vault client.

Regards,

Yogeshwar

OK. I see...

So if I understand correctly any Vault add-ins difference in versions with any Autodesk products (Inventor, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, etc...). could only be 2 years or less Am I correct?

thanks

thank you Yogeshwar. Much appreciated.

... One last question...

My Project Manager would like to know whether he can use this reply as an official reply from Autodesk because this will affect our upgrade plans (we have a lot of users of AutoCAD and Vault).

Hi @michael.kolominsky

You can use the first link I posted to show him the supported versions for Vault 2020.

You can update to Vault 2019 if you need to stay on ACAD 2017. Also this would involve multiple migrations.

You can only migrate 2 Versions forward, so from Vault 2014 to Vault 2016, to Vault 2018, to Vault 2019.

Thanks

I have just had Vault Pro 2020 installed but I am not seeing any tool bars within my 2019 Autodesk Applications.

Do I need to install Vault Pro 2019 to get these?

Thanks

Thank you, after I posted the message I decided to install the 2019 Vault and I now have a full set of tool bars connected to my 2020 server.
Thanks
