Add custom properties to released files and update content center files

Hello,

We want to link an ERP and the vault. To do this I need to add/edit few iproperties in a lot of files.

We work with autodesk inventor pro 2019.

I have some problems:

1°/ I have to add few customs iproperties (inventor) to released files. How can i do this? Is it possible to create a "super user" able to modified released files?

2°/ I also have to create and modify some iproperties in my custom content center familly.

I have succeed to create and modify in the content center database  but  how can I update the properties of files that existed before my modifications?

In Inventor I activate the option "Refresh out-of-date standard parts during placement". It's work but the problem is I have to change status to quick change and place manually all members of each family to resfreh the properties. Is there a faster way to update?

Thank you in advance for your advice

Hi, in order to try to answer this, I need to better understand the purpose of these custom properties.  Are they something that can be added now, in Vault, and later populated down to the files the next time they are checked out?

Hello Remy,

Do you only want to add these parameters when the document is released? There is the map mechanism inside properties on Vault so you can do one-way or two-ways property matching. So if your requirement is not generating custom parameters on release this is easy.

I don't really understand your workflow on the second area. Are you using inventors own content center library or is this a manually created library that you've put to your content center? In both cases, your content center administrator (as a role inside your vault global admin panel) can do the modifications on the content center files. This person should change the states of the files and no one else. So if you have properties on the previous "content center files" that you need to change, it needs to go through these steps.

CCA(Content Center Admin) puts your CC file to WIP. S/he does the modification from Inventor editor, publishes the change on the CC, then makes the files release. Or in your case "quick change".

This workflow depends on your own flow of course. In our approach, the content center files are those parts where a change is not done in a million years. Maybe you would consider using a "library" instead of the content center if your files are being changed frequently.

Hello,

Unfortunately I have to create the custom iproperties and fill them out before the ERP is connected to the Vault.

The ERP will create articles with the released files contained in the vault. All the necessary fields must exist and be completed before the ERP before the ERP is connected to the Vault.

Thanks for your time.

Hello,

"Do you only want to add these parameters when the document is released? There is the map mechanism inside properties on Vault so you can do one-way or two-ways property matching. So if your requirement is not generating custom parameters on release this is easy."

-> For this part it's ok. I have find a solution using Vault and the two way properties matching.

For the Custom content Center it's more complex.

We use only custom familly.

For exemple for Pin we have modified the part number and add a custom iproperties "TypeERP".

To do this I have:

1°/ Modified the familly templates to create the custom iproperties "TypeERP".

2°/ Change the part number manually in the content center editor and add "TSTOC" in "TypeERP" (Look at attachement: image1.png)

3°/ Where it becomes more complicated, it is to update the properties in the files already released.

In vault I have to change the status to WIK. Then  in inventor I have to place each element of each familly in an assembly to update the all iproperties. (I try to place them from vault and click on the button on attachement "image2.png" but it's not working.)

Is there a quicker way to update those files?

I have think to:

A: use a job server. is it's possible (if yes how)

B: use an ilogic rule in inventor to place all elements of one custom content center in "one click"? (if yes how)

Do you have a idea/solution?

Thanks a lot for your time

Solved.

After a computer reboot the refresh command on CC members work perfectly.

Thanks.
