3D Scan files in Vault

Hi,

I would like to ask about reccomendation.

I am CAD/PDM manager in big Filtration Company ( 218 Autodesk users)

One of our Sites has invested in 3d scanning tool supported by Recap, this solution will be more popular next years.

The files are extremally heavy 1-10 gb each.

Question:

1. Is there any reccomendation about 3d scans filesize reduction ?

2. What is reccomended setup in Vault ?

We don't want to store 3d scans in Vault due to performance issues.

The central vault has filereplication to 2 other servers.

Right now I have established a setup with - Libraries - mapped to local servers (not Vault Servers) : with that solution - only recap file is migrated to Vault and 3d scans are placed on local server.

Is it possible to setup separate Vault fileserver and exclude these files from automatic replication ?

3. Why I get pop-up in Inventor that the file is out of workingspace if it is mapped to libraries ?

Can I somehow get rid of this pop-up ?

#2, you can select which folders are replicated automatically to other servers in the ADMS Console.

Select File and Folder for Scheduled Replication

#3, This is based on the Inventor Project file. You may not have created your mapping correctly.

Did you already find a way to work with the files and don't use the Vault? I have the same issue here and no idea how to solve this.

@k.stinges with Vault 2021.1 Update you are able to set Path to be excluded from the Check In process. This should help with your request: https://help.autodesk.com/view/VAULT/2021/ENU/?guid=GUID-CC31BFD1-A270-4E4A-B654-51312795CC27

Dear Younes... 

That wasn't fastest reaction to problem...  It really suprises me that there was no good and reccomended solution to work in multisite structure with vault and 3d scans.

Yes, we have found workaround.

Big files are kept on C drive and local server, Auto-replication is turned off, the backups are done outside of Autodesk setup.

Not perfect but works.
