File name based on folder structure

Hello,

we recently started using Vault Professional and are looking at implementing file names.

I would like to have the option of giving file names based on the structure of the folder.

For example, let's say you have a folder structure like:

- COMM

-- 2022

--- PIPES

I would like for all files located in the pipes folder to have this name: "COMM22Pnnn"

which would be: first 4 letters of the main folder, last 2 letters of the second folder, first letter of the third folder, a progressive number of 3 letters (this number could be manually assigned)

This was easily doable in my previous file management software so I would think it should be doable in Vault?

Thank you for your help.

Welcome to the forum!

I do not believe this can be done right out of the box.  It will probably require some custom programming, if it is possible at all.  I will move this post to the Vault Customization forum.  Maybe someone there will have an idea.  Good luck!

Hi Andrea

It's worth looking at Vault Data Standard. I don't think it will work out of the box, but the amount of customisation will be less than any other way I can think of

Hope this helps
