Data Standard add-in for Office Word & Excel

Hello!

I successfully installed the Vault add-in  for Office (Vault Pro 2018, Office 2016): in Word & Excel, there is now a tab Autodesk Vault.

I then tried to install the Data Standard add-in for Office (Data Standard 2018_3): in Word & Excel, there is no tab Data Standard.

1) Should there be a tab Data Standard in Word & Excel?

If yes, I surely missed a step: what is the installation procedure?

If no, when saving a file, how is fired the GUI defined by FileOffice.xaml?

2) After associating Categories/Properties and mapping Templates/Vault properties in Vault,

-in Word, it is possible to insert a field bound to any file property.

-in Excel, how to fill a cell with any file property? Are there dedicated Excel formulas? Should the cell filling be performed using some VBA code? If so, an Excel file, checked in Vault, and containing cells refering to the file properties, can only be under Macro-Enabled format (.xlsm), if the properties are intended to be updated along the file life?

Thank you for your lights,

Best regards.

Hi  @Leon.VASSE,

You haven't missed any installer step trough the installation of Vault or Vault Data Standard. At this time Vault Data Standard does not have Add-Ins for Microsoft Office products. But so far as I know there is an existing idea in the Vault Ideas for it, and maybe it is already on the roadmap of Vault.

I hope thats answered your question.

The file is used by the Autodesk Vault Office client, which is a different thing.

Code is the only way: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1124294/display-custom-document-property-value-in-excel-2007-wor...

Properties will update in an xlsx file, but you cannot use them for cell values without code.

Matthias, Tim,

Thank for your kind answers.

Regarding embedded Data Standard GUI within Word/Excel, the idea has already been submitted but was archived due to few votes:

data standard integration for microsoft office

Regarding usage of properties in Excel cells without VBA coding,  I will submit the idea on Microsoft website...

Have a nice day,

Best regards.

I revived the idea, we had several clients asking for it, so maybe this time a bit more votes will save it from the archives fate.
