thanls for your swift reply.

Does this mean that if I want my own copydesign, I need to perform (=program/automate) all steps myself ? So download files, search for associations, create new numbers, ... check-in results into Vault.

I was hoping that Vault could take (some) work out off my hands.

Hi Irvin,

The copydesign is part of a more complete/complex workflow. 

I'm starting from a sales configurator (CPQ) which hold all parameter values of my configured product. These parameters are being injected into a master model that lives in vault. This means that I first need to perform a copydesign before injecting the parameters, otherwise I would ruin my master. From the copied master I create some STEP/PDF files which are sent back to the sales configurator.

Does this make any sense ?

If I understand you correctly, you should use Copy Design as it is. After the Copy is completed, find the parent and then perform your custom workflows\modifications.

You don't call it. Once the Copy Design is complete, go to the parent assembly in the Vault Client.

In the Copy Design dialog, select Go To - Destination folder.

Once you are on the parent file, run you code.

Hi Irvin,

Sorry for my ignorance but I don't want to use any UI. All steps need to be executed unattented, in an automatic manner. This workflow I try to implement runs in the cloud (uploading to APS). My cloud solution creates Vaultjobs which is the link between the cloud and my vault on-premise.

Basically, I make a copydesign on premise (including new vaultnumbers), zip it and send it to Forge for processing. Once it comes back, I want to checkin the results into Vault

So are there means on how to start a CopyDesign (via API)  and get a signal when ready performing the copydesign ?
