2017 Mass PDF upload issues...itemized names and description uneditable

Vault 2017 - we have 15,000 PDF files to upload, extract iproperties, add custom iproperties from our ERP system and re-insert with the new values.

The major issues we are facing are that the PDFs when itemized get an one-up number for the item number, we need this to match the filename...so users can search and find the item by filename.

So right now, we upload 000002-a.pdf - it's item number is one-up'd to 100024, we need the item to be 000002-a.

Also, we are extracting the iproperties and injecting fields from our ERP system and for the custom PDF category we created, we cannot edit the DESCRIPTION field. NOTE: If you upload a different non-cad data file like a .doc file, you can edit description...where is THIS setup and how?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Tim,

I am not sure of a solution for this. Can you provide code examples that are producing these issues?

If you are not using the Vault API please post these issues on the Vault forum.

Thanks,

Wayne

Found the answers to my questions; to help others looking in the future, one blog that got me close on the Description field being editable was this one...

Otherwise, see attached PDFs for additional info for how I solved these for my company and Vault 2017.

NOTE: I had already created the new PDF "file" category prior to these solutions.
