Hi everyone,
I bought a MacBook Pro (2022; M2) last week and am trying to install Upchain/CADConnector on my virtual machine, Windows 11 Pro (Parallels), to use Inventor. Unfortunately, I encounter an error after selecting the language in the installation assistant.
Inventor works fine on Parallels. I had a chat with support, but unfortunately, without success. I also attempted to install Amazon Corretto 8 and Java Oracle separately, but that didn't resolve the issue either.
Do you have any experience with this problem?
Thanks your Help!
Hi Vini99G7UFH, thank you for your question. According to the Upchain help, we do support Windows 11 but only on those machines that also run an Intel processor. The error message looks like it's detecting that the virtual machine doesn't have the required architecture. Our dev team is working to expand support for all Windows 11 machines, but aren't there yet. Perhaps you could look to install Windows 10 on your VM?
Hi Emily.Caulfield, thank you for your reply. I had already suspected something like this. Unfortunately, Parallels doesn't support Windows 10 for MacBooks with M-processors. However, I will try reaching out to Parallels support to see if there is any chance of support with Windows 10. Do you happen to know the planned date for an update like this?
Best,
Vincent
I don't have a timeline but I imagine the pressure to support it will continue to grow as more and more companies upgrade to Windows 11.
Hi Vini,
Your issue is that the M processor is an ARM processor. Upchain only supports x86 processors, Intel & AMD. I have added to the ideas forum to support ARM as it can be just a compile for the processor. Hope they update to support soon. My shop is a mac shop and several of users are in need of a computer upgrade but Upchain is keeping that from happening.
