Is it possible to block a released article if a new release is already available?
For example, there is already a release AC-00 and AA-00 and AB-00 can still be edited. This should not be possible. Is it possible to block them? Unfortunately, I can't find a way to do this.

Hi Benito, great question. Unfortunately there isn't a way to block revisions of previous releases items. This would be a great idea to post to the ideas board

All right then, I'll post it there. Upchain handles this topic in such a way that the old Release can be edited and as soon as it is released again, it is saved as a completely new Release.
For example:
Release AE-00 is currently available and you edit release AA-00 using a new version and subsequent CR. It then becomes release AF-00.
This creates uncertainty and no clear process during development.

Yes, it is possible to revise any released item regardless of release order. This allows for flexibility when working with different item versions. For example, it might be determined that AE-00 is not relevant anymore, but it is currently not possible to mark it as obsolete without a datafix. So in the meantime, you can go back and revise AD-00 and keep going. But I do see your point. Keep in mind a few things:

  • The CAD plugin shows when you do not have the latest version of the item open, so someone should be aware that they are revising an old version to start with.
  • The Where Used tab shows what item version the current version came from.

I hope that helps.
