It's not a choice for me. I've had medical setbacks and my physical disability prevents me from working in an office.
Many companies lie and say WFH is not a 'reasonable accommodation' possible for knowledge workers, but COVID has proved them wrong, and hopefully cases making their way through the courts now will reset precedence so more of us can stay in the workforce.
We're all one accident or illness away from becoming disabled and the fact that only about 20% of disabled folks in our country work means there's a lot of potential talent out there which is not being tapped.
I haven't worked for a company in St. Louis in years... lots of backward thinking here... that 2 hours a day in a car, unpaid, to sit around a germ factory with people constantly interrupting my work throughout the day because they mistake me for a personal assistant. No thanks!
SO, in short. Many companies and clients are realistic and allow WFH. Those are the companies I'll be working for/with.
