Forum Notifications

For well over 6 months I have NOT been getting email notifications that someone has replied to my post.

In the last month I have been getting email notifications for forum posts that I have never visited.

Something is wrong with the forum notifications manager.

I have verified that I am subscribed to the forum. I saw some posts that others were having similar issues. What can be done?

I had the same issue a while back when they update the forums to the new format.  If I remember right, I went through the notification settings on the forum preferences and it seemed to fix the issue.

Hello, Michael.  We were working on this through PM's, but we were unable to find anything on your roles and permissions from our side.  In my last message I wondered if there could be a firewall or something IT changed recently that could be making this worse.  It's also possible, like @andrewiv mentions, that you may need to tweak your forum preferences in order to get these to start flowing again.

Thanks @andrewiv . I looked at this previously but all looks normal. The list of options is endless but I think these are the ones where I set my email replies.

Thanks @CGBenner . Sorry, I didn't see your other reply. It could be our IT, we are transitioning. I checked my Email Notification settings and all looks normal i.e. email Immediately.

It doesn't explain why I am getting emails for posts that I have never visited but no emails for replies to my own posts.

This may seem a bit odd of an ask, and I have no idea if it will work, but I wonder if you could try changing the email settings in your preferences.... saving those changes, and then changing them back and saving again.... like giving the system a slight kick.  There WAS a problem with emails on our side several months ago, which was fixed... which is making that much more difficult to figure out why you are still having difficulty.

1) I received an email this morning linking to someone's IDEA posting. So emails are getting through, just the wrong ones.

2) @CGBenner , I followed your suggestion. I toggled/saved/toggled/saved almost all settings that I have for the forum.

3) Maybe I am a special case because I have a corporate license. When ever I log into the forum I am redirected to my corporate login and get access that way. Are the corporate setting overriding my personal email notification settings?

Looking internally it appears that you subscribed to the Inventor Ideas board from the Options menu at the top left.  This will get you notifications for every new post or reply in the forum.  To check this and unsubscribe try opening the Options menu and check your subscription status.
