Any Video editing software recommendation?

Hey there, don't know if it is a right place to post here.
I want to make a gaming montage video, but don't know what editing software should I use. One of my friends recommend me Premiere and AceMovi Video Editor, but I still want more choices. Do you have any other recommendation? All the replies will be appreciated!

Hi @Anonymous,

It really depends on what your budget is and the tools you need.

Adobe is industry standard these days, with Premiere Pro being a monthly subscription and Premiere Elements being a lifetime license.

There are free and cheaper editors like Movie Maker but they tend to have more limitations or quirks.

Lets me assume you are a beginner and don't have any previous experience in video editing this list will be according to that.

  • Filmora = For basic editing and adding clips transitions (No skill required)
  • Final Cut Pro = Between Filmora and Adobe (Need a basic understanding of the features)
  • Adobe Premiere Pro = For more control over transitions, color grading, and many more (Learning face is highly time-consuming, It will be worth your time)

Thanks and Regards,

Shubham Raturi.

I have used TechSmith Camtasia and Snagit for years now and I am very pleased by its capabilities.

As it was mentioned before, it depends on your needs and budget. I prefer Adobe video editing software as it covers everything I need and is the industry standard. Another one I would recommend is DaVinci Resolve. It has a free version which perfectly suits more advanced projects.

At least some time ago, everyone used Sony Vegas. If more professional level - Adobe After Effects. There are a lot of free editors, but trust me - it's better to understand the ones above. It's also popular now to edit videos from your phone. People even use chromakey to the fullest extent on the phone.

Definitely CAMTasia for me. I originally received a copy in exchange for some work many years ago, but it's affordable enough, I keep my own license now.

Even my kids use it, for school projects.

There's plenty of tutorials out there, and the help files are pretty good.

Adobe Premiere Pro – Industry-standard, powerful, but requires a subscription.
Davinci Resolve – Free version available, great color grading and editing tools.
HitFilm Express – Free with VFX tools, good for gaming edits.
Sony Vegas Pro – Popular for gaming content, user-friendly.
Filmora – Easy-to-use with built-in effects, good for beginners.

@pauljamerson820

Is this useful for screen recording of CAD software steps?

I tried it years ago and it seemed to be a video editing software rather than a screen recording software.

At the time - my research was indicating that another Adobe software in conjunction with Premiere was needed.

Adobe Premiere Pro is for video editing, not screen recording. For recording CAD steps, you could use OBS Studio, Camtasia, or Adobe Captivate.

Hey! If you're making a gaming montage, definitely check out CapCut—it’s super beginner-friendly but also powerful enough for cool effects, transitions, and syncing clips to music. It even supports keyframe animation and motion blur now. Plus, it’s free and doesn’t slap a watermark if you export right. Worth a try before jumping into the heavier editors!

Good question! Premiere and AceMovi are both solid, but they can feel a bit overwhelming for beginners. If you’re looking for something simpler yet effective, InShot Pro is a great option since it makes editing gaming montages easier with quick cuts, smooth effects, and music syncing without much hassle.
