Updating Model in Tandem

Sorry but I have a concept question

When uploading a model from BIM 360 Docs in Tandem at that moment is treated as an independent copy or kept linked to BIM 360 in order to maintain access to the last model release. If it is only a copy is it possible to update the current model file in Tandem without losing all previous data related.

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for reaching out. The connection between Autodesk Docs and Tandem is one-way. When the model is uploaded to Tandem, changes and updates made in Tandem will not be sent back to Docs. However, when a new version of the model becomes available in Docs, users can manually trigger an update in Tandem to update the model with the most recent model from Docs.

Thanks for the answer JEssica

What happens in tandem when manually triggering an update of a new model version in Docs?. All data related in the previous release in Tandem continue is preserved in the new update

Hi Rafael,

When the model is updated in Tandem, the only information that applies differently is the design properties. Asset properties will remain untouched. Then for the newly added elements, corresponding parameter sets will be applied to them, so you will be able to tag them right away.

How do you trigger the update. My models in Tandem are not updating to the latest B360 models.

Hi Chubbard,

Users have to tell Tandem to update the models for a facility manually. To do this, open the Files tab for the facility, click the meatball menu for the source files, and if an update is available, users can click Update—picture below for reference.

If you continue to have issues with this, please submit a support request.

So how long does this take to happen? I waited hours yesterday to see if the model would update or if I had to manually update. Never saw the update go live.

It is there today and was able to update. Would be good to get some time frames for the update, as this is a small model and most will be on the large side.
