🚨🚨New Feature🚨🚨 – Offline Status for Connections Now Available

Tandem is at it again with a new feature many users have requested. Offline Status for Connections is now available.

Why are we doing this? With the growing demand for more flexibility in customizing the Connection/Stream experience, AECO professionals can more accurately twin their facilities. Not all sensors take readings at the same interval. For example, for HVAC sensors, users may want to know the temperature for a space every five minutes. Then, for a conference room, whether it is occupied might only need to be known every 15 minutes. Offline Status allows for a more customizable experience.

To get started, open the Configure Connections dialog, and select Offline Settings. Users will see a list grouped by classification and the associated connection when expanded. Note that the Time Period column will show the interval that Tandem will use to consider a Connection offline. Note, that the default setting for a Connection to show Offline, is 15 minutes. That is, if no data have been received by the Connection for 15 minutes has past, it will show as Offline.

Under the Summary Tab, view the complete list of Stream configurations and count of connections by Offline Status settings.

I really like this feature for the reasons given.

I'm undecided on how I feel about the following, but was there a specific reason why (maybe user research) to make Connections that are set to Never to be represented by a green indicator? Is it that there is an assumption that it should be online?

The use case that comes to mind is for devices that only alert if there is an issue (presence of water for example). They may not technically be "offline" but are rarely sending a signal.
