Hello.

I work with the results of the calculation. I use reaction envelopes in supported joints. In the envelope table, the maximum reaction in the joint of interest (39) is 6281 kN for combination C31, together with combinations from dead loads (C5) and the effect of post tension. When I check a separate combination of C31, with combinations from dead loads (C5) and a post tension, the reaction in the same node is already 6724 kN! How can it be? What am I doing wrong? The problem disappears if I copy the file to another folder and do a recalculation, but I cannot do this for each of the dozens of combination...

It seems that the problem appears after making changes to the calculation model, in particular when changing the stiffness of the support springs. The envelope database is not updated. I saved all the model files in the archive, you can see that the program produces different maximum support reactions - the old ones, when outputting through envelopes and updated, when outputting through combinations.

Hi,

 

There certainly seems to be something wrong here as I was able to reproduce the problem with the original model you attached.  I believe the problem to be in the results viewer and I can't find a workaround at the moment.  The first time I opened the results viewer and inspected the Envelope results in the same way as you have shown I get the correct value 6723.604kN, which agrees with the compilation results.  However,  when I remove the added Dead Load compilation I still get the same 6723.604 results.  To examine the makeup of these results I used the "drilldown" option when looking at a single envelope  (rather than a set of envelopes) which then displays the correct value in the drilldown table which disagrees with the main table results which is the same result as if it includes dead load compilation C5.

I will continue to try to find a workaround and hopefully, in the meantime, the developers will see this post and will investigate further.

Hello! Thank you for your time and participation in finding ways to solve the problem. I was very upset, because I really like the program and it helps to efficiently perform calculations of artificial structures. However, when you do a lot of design work, you don't have the ability to double check for every result, so you rely on the program to run correctly. I will wait for a response from the developers.

Thanks for your patience while we investigate the cause of the issue.  A hard problem to pin down!  We can reproduce the mismatch between the main table result (6281) and the drill down (or compilation) result 6724.  

 

First switch off 'Multiple Results Selection' and ensure Dead Load Compilations is set to C5 for E3.

 

A workaround if you see a discrepancy between main table vs drill down result, is to hold down the ctrl key, and whilst holding the key, go to File | Reload.  If you then select another envelope (E2) and go back to E3 you would see the incorrect results again.

 

Another workaround if you see a discrepancy is to delete the following files (if exist)
*.srl, *.src, *.sre (where * is the filename) and ctrl File | Reload.  The correct result would then be permanent.

 

We will continue to investigate why this is happening.

 

One other thing to note is, when the file is loaded and multiple results selection switched off, E3 has C2 included not C5.

Thank you for your answer, but it still does not work properly. The File | Reload tool only helps to get correct results when 'Multiple Results Selection' is switched off. But then, by switching the option on, the mismatch occurs again...

I hope you will find a solution of the problem soon. At the moment I am forced to do a double check for each result and cannot automate the processing of a large array of results data through post-processing of data in MS Excel. Project deadlines are burning...

Hi Simon! I´ve checked and now it woks, thank you!

PS Just for my information - are you going to develop automation possibilities in Structural Definition and Structural Compilation fields? I have a lot of hand work in these fields, basically adding necessary Structural Loads (Thermal, Wind) in automatically created Compilations?
