Camera Movement with Flow

I have a quick question. I was wondering how I could set up a moving camera in the flow graph from scratch. Ive seen your tutorials dont they dont not specify exactly how to excute this operation from the first node to the last.

Thanks

Hi Sucrantis,

Could you clarify a bit further on what you're trying to accomplish? Are you trying to make the camera follow a player, are you trying to play a 'Story' that you've animated, or are you trying to animate the camera by moving and setting it's position and rotation in the flow editor?

Thanks!

Kaine

I am looking to create a ingame camera for a player. In my case, all I want is for the camera to move/orbit around the character.

Hungry Hippo for the win. Childhood memories .... good times. I'm happy to help you set up some camera stuff! We can do this in flow or in lua. How is project set up, lua or flow or both? There are many ways to get/set an active camera, link it to units/players and have it move around. If you can outline a specific simple scene you'd like to see set up, I can do that for you and relay the info here.

Yes this game is the best! A lot of people are anxious to see and play the final result.I have my scene organized and set up using flow. Ive never used Lua before so that kind of makes me nervous. I also have my idle and bite animation states ready to be plugged and ready using flow.

Here is what the scene looks like in progress.

I am curious too for the best practices of controlling a camera, essentially as a first person character.  I have placed a camera and have made it so the level starts from that camera's view.  I haven't been able to figure out how to get that camera to walk or move using the standard W/A/S/D and mouse view controls.  Is there a tutorial or guide that I may be missing somewhere that could help me out?

Hello dmccalla,

What type of project are you starting from? If you have done a revit scene from expo or are using any of the basic templates, hitting the F2 key when in game will give you a character controller. If you have started from an empty/minimal project, I can help you set up a camera.

There are great examples as well in the basic template (an invisible character that can walk around) and also in the character template (full rigged character with a weapon).

I have my scene set up from a Revit to Expo. When I run the simulation, the default camera starts below my model and I have to work my way up to get above the floor plane. Then I can hit F2 and I can walk around. But I want to be able to start my scene from my camera I created, which I have done. But I I can't move or walk around.
I have tried to look at some of the templates to figure it out, but I can seem to figure out the structure to get it to launch from the camera then walk around.

This is strange, my "Get Active Camera" that you refer to around 3.55 doesn´t have In nor OUT, only CAMERA and UNIT. I am on version 1.5.8. Any new workflow to reach the same result?

Thanks!

Hi Imapct_Zone,

Did you ever find a work around for this? The "Get Active Camera" is also missing from my options if I follow this tutorial. Im on version 1.8.

Thanks
