Sell Softimage Autodesk To The Foundry

I regret that amazing software has been killed by you,Company.

You should really sell it to the company who will carry on the further development of this software. The reason is because,it was very light and stable program.I was working on Maya,3ds max,but both of them were not as stable as Softimage was.Softimage had a gigapolygon core engine which Maya did not have,Maya has only proxy smooth mesh and smooth mesh preview which does not support maya render, only mental ray renderer which was for me too slow.

Please Autodesk:consider of selling this software to the proper company which will carry on developing this for long time,it is waiste of such nice 3D tool which still could be used for everything.I had a nice experience by using this application-was quick and very stable

Agree!

For me, the main reason is ICE. And it's unique plugins as well.

Ex: EmFluid4/5, EmFlock, EM tools, Momentum, Implosia, Explosia, Lagoa etc...

Shooting Softimage is like retiring Concorde plane. I know that it is all about the money but now we cant cross the Atlantic in 4 hours anymore... Well we can with old versions, but big companies dont want to use dead software.

Please reevaluate your decision and try to find way how to keep it alive...

Sell softmage please, or enjoy themselves the development of this program. How many people have given half his life to the study of the product, so you really can not care at all ... Unless you can count on the success of your own business if you do not want to reckon with other people that you trust .......

Yep still as sad as the day the news came out. I printed out the manual to Softimage|XSI 3.0 so i could read it on the toilet! Ah well. I freelance so i can still use what i have for as long as I can. I'm installing 3dsmax an maya tonight just to nose around and see where they are. Either one would have to have something very compelling to get me to pack up softimage just yet. Maybe they do... I'll let you know.

I think autodesk said that giving to software away would not work because they would have to strip out so much of the program and something about java licensing or something, i forget. So maybe that's why they cannot sell it.

Either way, Softimage was/is awesome!
