Fusion Sketch OS X still adds such little mini lines when starting a new line quite often. 1 out of 5 times this happens and requires me to be very observent. Sometimes line lines are just few pixels long and hard to see without zooming in enough!

Could you verify that the steps to reproduce are:

  1. Create a New Design
  2. Create a Sketch
  3. Draw a Line (vertical/horizontal - does it matter)?

You're using Yosemite, correct?

Thanks,

This is pretty hard to reproduce. So far, I haven't had any luck. Perhaps the issue relates to an external device... What pionting devices are you using? Are you using a magic mouse, space mouse, regular mouse, or a the track pad?

Thanks,

I had one other thought on this one... If you restart Fusion 360 or restart the computer, is the issue reproducible then?

Thanks,

Hello Nathan,

Noticed this erroneous line segment creation also on several occasions.

I use the magic mouse and I think (and this is really nothing more than a feeling) that it has something to do with dragging the mouse whilst selecting, e.g. the origin point.

It happens quite often but is very hard to reproduce on purpose.

Not sure if this  Screencast will be useful but just in case.

Ludo,

Thank you for the screencast. It is very helpful.

Let's look at this workflow in an active sketch:

1. Select the line tool

2. Left Click for the starting point of the line, but hold down the left click button and move the cursor

3. Now release the left click

Result: A line will be created and Fusion 360 will be ready for the endpoint of a second line.

If you drag the mouse while the left click is occurring a line will be created. With the magic mouse, I believe the top button can also scroll (like a trackpad). I would guess that if a finger moves a little bit during a click, that it would be possible to inadvertently create a line. I don't have a magic mouse to test with right now, but perhaps disabling scrolling or lowering the scroll speed on the magic mouse would make the pointing device less prone to the extra line creation.

Here's a link on the magic mouse settings.

Does this suggestion help?

Hi Nathan,

Deactivated middle mouse button and scrolling but this makes no difference.

It is exactly as you answered, dragging, even the slightest movement, during the click will create a line.

Sometimes the segments are so tiny that I hit the zoom limit (screen colour turns flat grey) looking for them.

I will try another mouse (no magic mouse) early next week but don't think it will be any different.

Guess I will need to be very careful not to drag when picking a start point, of course knowing the cause will be a big help.

Thanks for your reply.

Best regards,

Ludo
