Feature Request: Ruler measurements

Feature Request: Ruler measurements

I would love the ruler tool much more, if there were measurements in it.  In order to create sketches with more realism, I would suggest to add centimeters/inches, to the ruler and degrees to the elipse. The feature of seeing the angle in which the ruler is located, is already really cool and useful. But now adding the measurements, whether you decide them to be an option can turn them on/off, or just plain out adding them permanently, would be really useful and appreciated.

Love the app, and I hope you consider my suggestion.

Thank you.

A calibrate on/off button with custom scaling and an annotation tool to add mesurment on the drawing. Would help making more realistic skecth for fast sharing before jumping on other software (autocad, revit, etc)

I agree - the app really needs to have the ability for:

  1. calibrated ruler
  2. snaps so you can draw orthogonally without having to keep rotating the ruler
  3. gridded paper

Otherwise I fear that Sketchbook will get eclipsed by other apps that offer this.

Thanks

I use Morpholio Trace but with the ever increasing features of Sketchbook, and far better tutorials and learning material for sketchbook, I am considering deleting Trace and canceling my subscription.  The killer “missing” feature though is the dimensioning and scaling tools that help me give my woodworking drawings the proper scale and then help me determine material lists.  Without that ability, I find all the power sketchbook offers quite handicapped.

Basically it should work like the ruler in Apples "Notes" app.

The sketchbook ruler can already be 2finger-pinch-sized (to no visible effect atm) - all that needs doing is a scale that changes accordingly. (Changing the size of the ellipse tool a priori does nothing to the angles).

This also means there needs to be an option to lock the size of the drawing tools to the canvas size. Meaning: if I zoom into the canvas, ruler scale and size of ellipse tool change with it.

This in itself would be a great option for the ellipse tool. I think it makes no sense at all, that when I zoom in (to work at some detail) the carefully positioned ellipse does not fit the drawing anymore.

You should be able to set units for the ruler and in addition allow there to be a number of subdivision thicks. The subdivision should occur between the two endpoints of the ruler and should divide the ruler in the set amount of equal parts.

I use Sketchbook on IPad Pro for free style technical drawing and love the natural feel of drawing on the screen. The thing I can’t use it for is drawing accurately to scale. I would love the ruler to be marked in mm and cm and for a dimension to be displayed from the start point of the line to tell you how long the line is that you are drawing. I also agree with above comment about snapping the drawing layer back to true zero degrees after rotating (not the fluffy zero we get now) and also the comment about having a grid layer which would be handy.

I like a lot the perspective tools and I think that adding and isometric view tool and a grid tool would be really great functionalities.

Seem like such a basic necessity to have some kind of measurement options on a ruler.  How was this not included?????

for an architect during concept sketches, must have tools.

ruler with measurement,

dimensioning,

ability to impose grid

lock orthogonal lines
