Ruler Tool???

Alright... so I just got a drawing tablet and downloaded Autodesk Sketchbook....

The thing I'm drawing demands that I have perfect, precise lines to work. I tried the ruler tool and words cannot express how much I hate this tool. Is there anything else that I can do to make straight lines. I've tried using the shift key, and using the D key but those don't do anything.? Is there something I'm missing?
