Problems using finger gestures on surface go

I'm having problems where I am unable to use touch gestures to zoom or reposition the canvas on my surface go. It seems to happen arbitrarily and after closing the program it comes back.

Can you delete the app and reinstall it from the MS store?

If this happens again, can you reboot the laptop as well? 

Do you leave the app running when you put it to sleep?
