Cannot choose color without entire layer changing colors

When choosing a color on IOS Sketchbook it changes the color of the entire layer. So I cannot color with the brush as the layer is the same color. When I choose a selection it also won’t let me color it. Instead the entire layer changes color though it doesn’t show in the layer palette.
