Adonit Pixel not in list of styluses in preferences

Hi,
After reading the list of supported styluses for Sketchbook 4.x on mobile on the official website, I bought myself an Adonit Pixel for use with an iPad Air 2.
When trying to connect the stylus for the first time, I was surprised that the Pixel wasn’t listed on the drop-down menu - only the Adonit Jot, and a bunch of other ones.
I selected the Jot, since it’s the closest (same brand) to the Pixel but it doesn’t seem to work properly, especially when using a pencil (whereby you need a huge amount of pressure to make dark lines, much harder than with an Apple Pencil and iPad 6th gen).

Have I missed something in the setup process? Is there a way to get the Adonit Pixel visible in the list?

I am going to move this message to the suggestion section of SketchBook.    i.e. Support for newer Styluses.

I’m sorry, but doesn’t this page suggest that Sketchbook already supports the Pixel?

If this is in fact wrong, I suggest you also get someone to change the information on the website. Unless I’m mistaken, it looks like an official Autodesk website and I just made a purchase entirely based on this incorrect information.

Can you confirm that if you go to "Preferences", you can't connect the stylus?

It connects (i.e. the two buttons on the stylus work) but the pressure sensitivity is completely off - you have to apply a crazy amount of pressure to use a pencil correctly, for example (compared to using the Apple Pencil with a 2018 iPad and iPad Pro). The accuracy is terrible too - it's fine for long, broad brush strokes but it's almost impossible to draw fine details with a pen / pencil.

I've since returned the Adonit Pixel and got a refund.

I have the same problem! I purchased an Adonit Pixel for $140AU on the grounds that both the Adonit AND Autodesk websites state that the Pixel is compatible with Sketchbook. The pairing process is supposed to be as simple as going to the Preferences in the app and choosing the Pixel from the list of styluses - IT IS NOT IN THE LIST.

Unlike the original poster, I cannot return my stylus without it being faulty or me having established that the stylus definitely does not comply with its advertising, so this is my last step in doing that before I report BOTH companies to the Australian Consumer Affairs Commission and have my products refunded.

I look forward to your reply!

I have this same problem. Its not a "suggestion to be requested". Both Adonit website and AutoDesk website CLAIM that AutoDesk Sketchbook works with Adonit Pixel. Yet is it IS NOT in the menu. Only Adonit Jot. and unfortunately selecting JOT does not pair the Ipad air 2 to the Pixel.

I, like the original poster, purchased the ADONIT PIXEL because both websites claimed compatibility.

I can confirm this is an issue. Pressure sensitivity is not accurate due to the lack of proper compatibility. Both AutoDesk and Adonit claim that the Adonit Pixel will work with AutoDesk Sketchbook. But this seems to be a lie.

The AutoDesk Sketchbook app lists the Adonit Jot, not the Adonit Pixel. There are two different products. Very disappointing mistake, as I need this functionality to work for my classes.

This is not an issue for suggested features, but a technical error.

I have purchased the Adonis for the same reason, sketchbook compatibility and... after problems, and a search, here the reason.

it is unbearable that after one year, sketchbook is not compatible and the info is the same

give us a real solution: real compatibility

This is an old topic so I don't expect it to be addressed, but I want to chime in anyway since I'm having the same problem. For anyone searching for this topic/a solution, I at least want them to know it isn't just them! Your hardware probably isn't broken, this appears to be a software problem.

With some effort, I found a new-in-box Adonit Pixel (in 2020) to use with my 5th gen iPad, based on several sources reporting that this is the only active stylus that would work for my iPad.

In using Sketchbook — an app specifically listed as compatible with all of the advanced active stylus features I got the Adonit Pixel for — I've found the same issues other people have. While technically it pairs, under Adonit Jolt, the behavior is unpredictable. In addition to pressure issues (which I suppose you can alter in the tool settings), more concerning is the dreaded wavy lines which I could get with any cheap/dumb stylus, and worst of all, it periodically just stops drawing altogether, often in the middle of a line. The dropped connection (or whatever it is) might be a fraction of a second, or it may be long enough that I force quit and restart the app, thereby losing all levels of undo etc.

I keep looking, and have even contacted Adonit to see if they have some suggestions, but I'm not finding solutions.

I like Sketchbook the most of all the Adonit Pixel "compatible" apps I've used, but it's too frustrating to use with the Pixel. I'd love to think someone somewhere has a solution, or maybe is even working on one, but since I've literally had people tell me I should just upgrade my iPad and get a Pencil (sure, a $1,000 solution sounds reasonable), I'm not holding out much hope.

But I'll keep looking anyway. 🙂

I've been communicating with Adonit support, and they assure me that the fact that Pixel isn't in the list of styluses is not an issue. Pairing under "Adonis Jot," they tell me, is just a matter of naming and doesn't affect the compatibility.

However, I still have the problems mentioned above. Adonit support has made the usual suggestions (make sure it's clean, that I'm not using it at too oblique an angle), but it doesn't appear that they are aware of/acknowledging any particular issue between the Pixel, the iPad, and Sketchbook. Everything in me suspects that the issue lies in Sketchbook itself, which is the only app I have these unpredictable behaviors with.
