The selected locations do not accept the load or constraint being applied

Hello, I imported a .STP file to Inventor and made some modifications with not ploblem. Now I want to make a simulation using "Mechanical Simulation", I created the element type, material and generate a 3d Mesh. When I try to apply forces and pressures ME do not allow me because "the selected locations do not accept the load or constraint being applied".

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? or what about is?

Hi @FEM_TXF The message indicates that the load you are trying to apply (force, pressure, etc.) cannot be applied to the geometry that is selected (vertices, lines, surfaces, etc.). So the questions are:

1. Are you selecting the geometry first, or the command to apply the load first?
2. If selecting the geometry first, what geometry do you have selected? (vertices, surfaces, lines, some combination of multiple types?) Forces can be applied to vertices or surfaces (or edges if working with a CAD model). They cannot be applied to vertices and surfaces simultaneously.
3. It sounds like you are selecting the geometry first. How are you activating the command to apply a force? By right-clicking and "Add > Force", or from the Ribbon bar?

Note that you can always give the command first, and this will default to one of the valid types of selection. (For a pressure, there is only one option: selecting a surface.)

Hi john.holtz, Yes I read it, but I still have a problem, when I create the mesh a warning symbol appers in "Part" and in "CAD   Mesh options". But I cannot see what the ploblem is, neither how could I solve it.

Just to clarify. Did you solve the problem with applying loads or constraints? If you are still having problems with applying loads or constraints, please provide some more details to us. Maybe you can create a video or screencast to show the problem.

Meshing is a different issue, and you should create a new post for it. But in general, the "Mesh > View Mesh Results > Problems" will show where the mesh problems are occurring (at least when the mesh is partially successful). This will not necessarily indicate how to fix the problem, but seeing what the problem is can help to determine what the solution is.
