Simulation replacement?

Autodesk has dropped us. I am currently test driving ANSYS and I am here to tell you it is terrible. I am shocked. Shocked at the poor interface, obtuse modelling approach, lack of material data, the crudeness of the mesher. I could go on and on. I thought ANSYS was supposed to be the standard. LOL!

Autodesk I don't know what you are thinking. You have the best mechanical FEA software in the world and you are throwing it in the garbage.

Let me know what you want for the code. Maybe we can make a deal. Dead serious.

In the meantime, what is a good replacement for Sim Mechanical? Forget ANSYS it is hot garbage.

it may be worth having a look at Autodesk® Simulation Mechanical Update – Discontinuation in March 2018.

Fusion 360 and Nastran In-CAD(renamed Inventor Nastran starting version 2020) are mentioned in the article.

Autodesk paid 34 million dollars for ALGOR in 2008 and 11 years later they abandon the product entirely. How can I continue a business relationship with that company?  Good luck with Fusion360

Hi All,

I used both programs for a long time. I may tell you that ANSYS is a very good and well considered FEA code, just like Simulation Mechanical. The main difference is the fact that real power of ANSYS is in its programming language called APDL. Use ANSYS if you will do more complicated calculations, otherwise Simulation Mechanical is much easier to use, especially for a beginners to FEA.
