Pipe shearing analysis with Simulation Mechanical

Hi there,

I am a Bsc Mechanical Engineering undergraduate doing a Final Year Project of a shear-ram analysis.

I need your favor to help me with a few things.

I made my model and ran my simulation.

The first problem is, can you teach me how to predict the load required to shear the pipe? I understand that the pipe will not totally tear, but I still need to know the load required prediction.

Second, I tired a few simulations before that they needed only like an hour to be done. This time, (I edited the part a little bit) and it took more than 12 hours as can be seen in the picture. At some point, I believe the analysis actually got stuck there because I dont notice any displacement anymore .

can you help suggest me what should I do to help reduce the time required if there is any? (such as using bigger mesh, or different element type.

I am very new and my knowledge of using this software is very limited. Thanks in advance for your help.
