Loses element and material definition

Very frequently I'll be cruising along building a model and suddenly the element definition and material on one or more parts will turn red even though I've already defined them. I go back to edit them but the values show as being there. Nevertheless, when I hit "OK" it's still red indicating that it is undefined. The only solution is to close SM then reopen it and, viola, the definitions are back!

I've contacted technical support about this and they think it has something to do with a virus scanner or something. In other words, something is jacking with one of the SM file. This is starting to happen more and more often and it's driving me crazy. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi @rlkillian,

I've seen this most often occur with either anti-virus software or Windows Search Indexing. Obviously anti-virus settings are dependent on each package, usually if you exclude you working directories from active scanning this will resolve the problem. For Windows Search Indexing, you can go into Windows Services and disable "Windows Search".

Regards,

Andrew

Thanks, Andrew. I hope it's the indexing because IT has total control of my virus scanner. I've turned off indexing in the folder I keep my Sim files. Let's hope that works.
