What's the software telling me?  I created an oblique plane (relative to the analysis model coordinate system) for impact analysis.  This is a design study within an analysis that has successful impact analysis to planes orthogonal to the coordinate system.  I don't get that error in those design studies.  It's running, but this one's taking a long time to converge and move on to subsequent steps.  I'm on a timeline to deliver a bunch of different impact analysis, so I'd like to clean this up in the hopes the analysis will run faster.  Any thoughts?

It was taking extremely long, so I ran the comparison analysis I'm using as a baseline with a very similar set up, including the oblique plane.  I saw this message on the command window, which I might have missed in the other analysis:

I know that the other analysis began to increment at very small steps at the same time step.  Both of these analysis worked fine when I impacted on an orthagonal plane.  It was when I created the oblique impact plane that both analysis bogged down.

I left the analysis run overnight.  It was trying to converge the same time step this morning that it was on when I left last evening.

Another update:  I created the assembly oblique to the native coordinate system and then imported it into the analysis software.  It seems to be running fine.  However, doing it this way introduces the possibility of error (I have to create the entire thing from scratch.  It also requires about an hour to an hour and a half of set up, which is not efficient (copying a study and creating an oblique plane requires only 5 minutes).

 

It appears the study with the plane created within Simulation 2016 is an issue.  I created it by entering 3 coordinates.  I have a question:  Is the plane created with three points infinite in its 2D direction?
