Built In Beam

I'm trying to run a simulation using static stress w/ linear material models on a biult in beam with a distributed load on the entire beam. However, the simulations fails all the time.

I fixed both ends and applied the distributed load.

Am I setting it up incorrectly?

Thank you,

Carlos

It looks like you only have 1 element (1 line) in the analysis. Since both nodes are fully fixed, there are no unrestrained nodes for the analysis to calculate the displacements. Essentially, the solver can't calculate anything.

Select the distributed load and copy it. Select the line and split it into multiple divisions. Paste the distributed load to the new line segments. The analysis should work.

In general, the more elements you use (the finer the mesh), the more accurate the results.

Yes it worked!

I've been using ANSYS and pro Enineer Mechanica and they work a bit different.

Thank you for the solution.

Carlos
