Applying compression support to a specific region of surface

Hi,

I am trying to set up a support acting only in compression. I have truble creating region on a surface, that this support acts on. It is rectangular surface with a hole in the middle surrounded by smaller bolt holes. The support acts only on a circular area around the main hole. I am adding the geometry to the post. (Picture: Geometry)

I have tried the following:

1, I created a surface patch in SimStudio Tools and transfered, that into simulation mechanical, however I always had to add some thickness to the part. SM wouldn´t take it as and area.

2, I have made two circles in SM and did 2D mesh on the bounded area. But that also gave me error. Plus it was going over the bolt holes.  (Picture:2D mesh  )

3, I made a cylinder with small thickness, but I am worried this is affecting the resulting stresses.

I am going in a circle..

Help would be very appriciated

P.S.: I am using these steps to make the constraint : https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/simulation-mechanical-forums/support-to-fix-uz-in-the-same-time-enabl...

Hello,

What you want to do is split the face, not add any new geometry (new parts) to the model. Most CAD packages have a way to split a face. In SimStudio Tools it is the "Modify > Split > Split Face" command.
