Robot Crashes When Attempting to Edit Steel Member Design Properties

Can I put a shout out to Autodesk developers to please, please, please fix the bug that causes Robot to crash when attempting to edit steel member design properties?  This happens regularly when you double click on a member to edit the design settings.  It doesn't seem to follow any specific pattern but it has consistently being happening since I started using Robot which was on version 2018 at the time.

Hi @AnthonyMcTigue

You mean about this operation (see video) or program crashes while other operation?

@Krzysztof_Wasik

Yes this is the operation that frequently causes a crash and it usually occurs at the double click stage.  The programs will hang for a second or two and then crashes.  I wish I could help you pinpoint it a bit more precisely but I have been trying to identify patterns as to when it happens but it has been years and I still don't have any clarification other than it seem to randomly happen with both large and small models and in every version of Robot since I started using it at version 2018 and on multiple different computers so I can't even tie it to a specific installation.  It can go days without happening or it can happen four times within 10 minutes so it is really bizarre.  About the only things I didn't mention in my introduction post is that I always work with AS 4100 design codes and that it doesn't seem to happen with the three predefined defaults.

Hi @AnthonyMcTigue

Thank you for detailed information.

I have tried Steel member edition for AS 4100 and indeed in one case I get Robot freeze. But I am not able to find any pattern for that. I have tested it for abut 30 minutes with one crash only  I will register that to our Developer database but without finding pattern it will be difficult to correct.

@Krzysztof_Wasik,

Thanks for that.  A quick update, it just happened when I tried editing the built in "Beam" set of defaults.  Is there any log file or anything else useful I can send through the next time it happens that would help you troubleshoot?

Hi @AnthonyMcTigue

Thank you for additional information. I will try to play with beam label.

Log will not help. Usually when we are able to reproduce issue we use Event Viewer but it make sense for very limited time due to huge files produced. If Robot identifies error, Crash report is generated and you can send it (Crash message appears in separate window). When software freezes accidentally there is no solution for catching issue.
