Required Transversal Reinforcement on Beams

Hi,

Currently the design output of Beam results does not show the required transversal reinforcement area. It only shows the design info which is mainly defined by the user before the calculation. It expects user to set the bar diameter and number of legs on the calculation parameters menu. However, most of the time user can’t know the number of legs and the bar diameter beforehand. Now the resulting table shows Provided Transversal Reinforcement not the Required value.

It would be great to see an additional column on the Results Table which shows the required trans. reinf. area / spacing (cm2/cm).

It would be also great to get these values (num.legs, str.diameter, req. ttrans. reinf.) directly from the API in the name of efficiency. (not by dumping the table to excel)

This has been introduced as density in Robot 2017. However density is calculated by the provided bar diameter, number of legs and req. stirup spacing and therefore giving a value which is provided and is not reliable because once you change bar diameter and number of legs you will get a totally different density.

What I mean with this request is Required Shear Reinforcement Area (required density); which is basically calculated with the following formula:

(Asw / s) =  Vw  / (fywd x d)

Vw  is shear force

Asw  is required area

s is stirrup spacing

fywd is yielding stress

d is depth of the section

So in Robot (and its API) there should be an option to get this required result (Asw / s) independent of provided bar diameter, number of legs and stirrup spacing.
