Timber walls and floors in Robot

Hi,

 

i m new to Robot, i m trying to calculate load for a small house. The firs floor and up over is made of timber.

 

Is it possibel to use timber walls and floors in Robot? Pls find the attached pdf file.Timber _wall_floors_roof.PNG

Yes .In " new thickness" just select the right material

ok, how can you define the studs in wall, or the beam in floor. If we take a floor thickness In the dailog box for new thickness, there is no option to define slab. can pls creat a demo? Floor.PNG

Hi Saleh,

 

RSA hasn't got the functionality for design of such types of timber walls and floors. The timber design in RSA is intended for heavy timber construction.

In my opinion is a bit "risky" to try to model timber shear walls in Robot... The stiffness of this walls are not coming out only from the stiffness of the assigned panels at them self but also (in a significant manner) from the connections' stiffness between them and the surrounding linear members (timber columns and/or beams).  

In timber projects, i model the bearing structure with the post and beam method (combined with diagonal braces) that can be model more safely in Robot...

Thank you, nice to know to save time. Do you think that this option can be possible in future? nd one thing more can you change the website to secure one pls (https instead for http) if that is possible.

Timber post and beam projects are being modeled in the same logic as in steel structures.

The differences are in some kind of assumptions and factors that are described in codes.
