The tension and compression capacity of a steel section is the same when calculated according to the Eurocode 1993-1-1(Cl 6.2.3 and Cl 6.2.4). But when the section capacity is calculated using the BS code 5950-1 (Table 24), the tension and compression capacity of a section will be different depending on the slenderness ratio and the grade of steel.
When I check the detailed calculation report in Robot, the same tension and compression capacity is observed for a section when designed using the BS code. please let me know if this is an error in Robot or there is a possible work around to rectify the problem.
