Slab and ground beams.

Morning to all, I'm trying to get a structural model with Robot about a two way spanning slab above a grid of ground beams. The slab is not in continuity with the beams and they are casted separetely. My query is how to model the slab and the ground beams as well. Does the software consider automatically the slab in continuity with the beams if I'll model it as a shell element clicking in the space between four beams? If yes is there any specific command to make the slab indipendent from the ground beams? I was also thinking to model just the slab supported by linear springs. Is that feaseble for linear supports? Thanks very much. Cheers.
