Shear wall on top of Frame

Hello,

 

I have a shear wall on top of a moment frame, however I cannot seem to have the base shear of the wall transfer to the frame below.  The frame is the only lateral resisting element in that direction.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Currently the roof "plate" is defined "without stiffening".  However, I put in a 10 kip point load at the corner of the wall, just to test to see if the load will get to the frame below.

 

Image 1 shows what the magnitudes of the moment  should roughly be (in a 2-d setting)

 

Image 2 shows the magnitude of the axial force going through the beam (in robot), which matches the point load placed in 2-d setting

 

Image 3 shows the magnitude of the moment diagram in robot (which should be close to image 1), but clearly is not.

 

It seems as if the program thinks the wall is acting as a "deep beam" being part of the frame, since there is little to no moment on the steel beam, which is not the intended result. All I want to is the wall to transfer the base shear to the frame and not act as "part" of the frame.

It doesn't 'think' but just takes its stiffness as defined in a model Smiley Wink

 

Try to mode l wall as number of parallel vertical bars (with X bracing if needed) instead.
