Section Shape Type - Can't find the right number

Hi guys

I'm quite new into generating my own sections in robot and face a challenge in defining the "Section Shape Type".

So what i have done at this moment is to insert two standard profiles (a UPE200 & a IPE200). One on top of the other.

Did the standardization and calculation which seems right since i'm able to get the section analysis.

However i can't seem to figure out which "section Shape Type" i need to define for the section.

Found this link: http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-37C90ACA-0068-46B0-9CE2-76DEF8EED292

Went into the Section database to define the Section shape: And lodaded the User database where the section was saved (using the ? in section shape type).

Can anyone point me in the right direction of choosing a proper "section shape Type" for the above section?

Hi Nikolai,

Let me ask you a following question - what code formulas (for which profile type) would you use to manually check this section?

Hi

I would use EN 1993-1-1 Design of Steel Structures.

Tried to determine the cross section class:

Web: Class 3

(Upper) Flange: Class 1

Found a note in EC3 section 6.2.2.4 which tells that if the web is class 3 and the flange is 1 or 2 then the cross section class is allowed to be set as: 2.

Is this the answer you were looking for?

Hi @Anonymous

What you name a web and the flange? Are they to be considered as a web and flange of I beam or a channel?

Hi @Anonymous

So in the same way  you should select the I shape symbol saving this section to the user database.
