Robot SA 2023 - Unistrut Parameters

Hi,

I am using Robot 2023 and I am coming across the below issue when using Unistrut. I did not have this issue in previous versions of the software.

Can someone please advise?

This is an enhancement implemented in RSA version 2023.

We have added verification for user-defined sections without required data e.g. flange thickness, webs.

You have to add these parameters to your section definition, otherwise the design code might give incorrect results.

Hi Waldemar,

This section is a cold formed channel. (Unistrut) It does not have a web or flange.

Can you please advise on how to add this parameter for a profile such as this?

Thanks

Hi Matthew,

In order to perform steel design you need to save the section with a corresponding section shape type and set the geometry values.

Hi Waldemar,

Thanks for the quick response.

We have many profiles in various configurations such as the P1001A:

Is it possible to run analysis on such a profile?

As this Section Type is not specifically listed.

Or does this just define how it runs the verification on the custom profile?

I assume this means we will need to re-add all the profiles using this method?

This is more restrictive to the sections we have added to the database as the name is limited to 4 characters and uses Dimensions 1-3 in the profile name in our database. Can you please confirm this is now the case?

Thanks

For this kind of section you can use C-shape okapawal_0-1655199582320.png

Then the calculations will go as for the C-type profile without taking into account the middle part of the cross-section in the section class determination procedure. The class will be marked imperfectly - a slender web with the height of almost the entire cross-section and the shelves treated as supports - but certainly conservatively. There is likely to be a large reduction in the active field in compression and bending resulting in a conservative reduction of the load capacity.
Stretched, but will allow you to estimate the load capacity.

I'm afraid you need to re-add sections to the user database with these additional data.

Thank you!

Was this ever identified?  Looking at the same issue - need the library for Robot SA specifically

Hi @matthewobrn

Is there any chance you could send me a copy of this file for this particular unistrut? I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind regards,

Neil
