Problem with section definition - axis inversion

Hi everyone,

i am trying to create my own section since the element I am strying to model is an tailoredmade extrusion. The material is aluminum.

This is the section, with the axis z vertical and y horizontal:

1.PNG

When I calculate the section properties the axis are rotate, z horizontal and y vertical:

2.PNG

Sometimes it pops up a window asking me if I want to rotate the axis and sometimes no. This means that every time i have a new section I have to struggle to get that window showing up. I guess the z-axis is set as the strongest one and that´s why the program rotates automatically. But my weak axis is the z-one, so every time the axis are rotated is not correct for my model.

Please let me know if you have any solution.

Hi @tommasovidali94

It seems that your section is non symmetrical and calculated principal axes are slightly rotated

I have removed right opening and copied left one with mirror option.

Once section is symmetrical dialog pops up

See attached corrected section
