Problem with local coordinates system

So, I have this conical hopper and I changed the local coordinates system of the panel in order to be able to create a friction load. (px in load casa 5). I aligned the local X axis with the vector (0,0,1).

Everything looks fine but when I run calculations I got this message error: "Incorrect definition of the direction X for the panel local system". What's wrong?

Model attached.

Hi @giorgio_sciandra

please try to redefine the orientation as I tried to redefine it and seems the issue has disappeared.

If you can open mine, have a look, but better if you use yours.

To define it I took the "origin" of the conical element and the beginning of one of the element you use as reference.

It works, grazie!

Ok, now I can run calculations without error. But something is still wrong: look at the load direction!!

Hello @giorgio_sciandra,

it seems to me that the force is in the X direction. I think you should check them because it could also be that is just an issue in displaying them.

Maybe try to create an isolate case to control it and see which results you can expect from a conical plate element modelled like you did.

If you have still doubts, I would open a new case related only to this issue.

I tried to make a new model: a cone. If I define the local X axis direction according to the vector 0,0,-1 the local system is ok for all the FE and I get no errors while calculations.

Same operation on the first model give an error during calculation. Who knows why?

Took the old model, deleted the conical hopper, made a new one.

Orientation of local system according to vector 0,0,-1

Everything works fine now, no error anymore....

thanks for your support @Anonymous !
