dear sir
i have to define raft with piles foundation. i defined raft with th=1000mm kz=1250 Kn/m3 ((according per soil report )
but i dont what value kx.ky .kz for pile 600 mm l=4m
kindly find attached pictures
best regards

Good morning,
For pile foundations I use Elastic ground for bars, to simulate horizontal ground support. See attachment.
You can calculate Ky and Kz according to the theory of menard..

Good morning,
For kz you can aply the same value as under the raft foundation.
For Ky and Kx you can use the formula according to Menard, see attachment.
I traslate the document from Dutch to English, some words migth not be correct but the formula is the same.
If you want to know more about this theory you can find it on the internet.
I hope this would help.

Hello,
Attached you find an example of the bridge i made a screenshot of.
In this case there where two pile in one row and i aplleid two different Ky and Kx values because in this case the lower layer was moch stiffer. You can put de Menard formula in a spreadsheet and calculed the Kh value (kh = Ky and Kx)
The only parameter you need is qc from your sonding graff.

Good morning,
n = the number of piles in an row
d = diameter of the pile

AthrD,
I wrote an example for one pile that you could aply on your model, see attachment.
You only need to change qc if necessary.

Thank Dennisveendam .
But Foudation cap pile of me is 4 pile.
Kx, Ky = n x d x kh = 4 x 0.6 x 15636 = 37526,4 Please see picture .
right or wrong ????? thank you
wrong,
for Ky and Ky = 9000kPa, you need the elastic value of one pile.
thank you for your explaining but i have to put kx ky kz for pile in kn/m
i calculate it in kn/m2 as your explaining
how to converte to kn/m
kx (kn/m2) * (diameter) or what ??
regards
THank Dennis van Dijk.
I think kx,ky (kN/m3) convert to kx,ky(kN/m) = Kx,ky(kN/m^3) * Ac. With Ac is area of pile.
Thank you. You is nick skype ??
