Opening in the column's web

Hi!

I need to model a column with an opening in the web. I want to know if it is possible, and if, how is it done?

Im using Robot structural Analysis version 2012

Best regards,

Anders

Either as castelated section or model  bar from panels (shell FEs) and make opening in web panel

Hi again!

Could you please give me a more detailed description, the hole must be a rectangular one. Is it possible to model the hole on a already existing column? If not, have do I make the column a shell element? Im a novice, the more  detailed description, the better.

Thank you!

Anders

Yes and no

1. Shells - see screen shot above

2. Bars - movie here (in case of using this section in steel design please select proper section type under "?" button while saving to database): http://screencast.com/t/2OxqewwTh
