Non-Linear Analysis convergence

Hello everyone,

I am a new user of Robot analysis, and I am designing a steel building with robot, but unfortunately, I cannot figure it out why i keep getting the error message for non-convergence in the analysis. If anyone can give me guidance because it keeps failing i would deeply appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to change the parameters that you mentioned, but the system still keeps failing due to no convergence of system. Attached is the screenshot of the model.

Thanks!

Hello @suxho95,

I looked at your model:

[1] all your supports were released horizontally, X and Y direction;

if you want pinned support UX, UY and UZ box must be ticked, full restraint all boxes must be ticked etc. etc.

[2] all you concrete slabs are "slab - rigid diaphragm" if you want the in-plane stiffness of the slabs just use shell.

For a good mesh u should first take the thickness of the slab as a mesh size:

I think 1ft is about 12 inch (im not sure, i use metric)

[3] all you load cases and combinations are on auxillary, you get no results

wind and seismic on auxillary

[4] I'm not sure why you use DAM, i turned it of and your model runs.

I hope this will help you.

Hi @suxho95

In your model I corrected a geometric discripancy,

Simau_1-1732124672193.jpeg

I set the diagonals as truss without releases.
I deleted the releases in the beams in Y direction so that they work as portals with the columns.
I set supports as "pinned".
The main model works fine but with huge displacements
Before you resume DAM, you have to correct your huge loads

Same for LL rain snow
